Intro to August, Notes on July
chit chatting about my august mood board/playlist combo and what inspired the theme...

Hello <3
Welcome to my debut Substack post! Gaah! First and foremost, I should note that I am not a writer and who knows how long this will last. However, I hope this can be an exercise in strengthening my voice & writing skills and I am very excited to share some thoughts and chit chat about some of my favorite things: style, trend, and music...
This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Nelsonville Music Festival with some of my great new pals <3. We stayed at a home in Wayne National Forest and spent most of our time outdoors between volunteering at the fest, listening to the sets and all our time in between. Back fresh with inspiration from the weekend, I compiled images with the same feeling of our time in the forest into my August mood board (I want to feel like that deer in the tree all August long) and gathered some songs we listened to on our drive, songs heard at the fest and some others that fit the bill into a playlist, summer, so far, to be the soundtrack to this upcoming month...
Overall, the whole weekend was calmly blissful (minus getting rowdy at the amyl & the sniffers set) and held the feeling of a slow summer, feeling comforted by nature. I tried my best to portray that in my themes this month... with notes of nostalgia, slow summer days, good company, good music & good times.

Speaking on nostalgia ~
On Friday morning we drove into Athens for a coffee and a walk around the campus. My outfit for the day consisted of my trusty black cowboy boots, a simple black tank top, and my mom’s worn-in denim shorts. My dad went to Ohio University in the early 90’s and while walking around I couldn’t help but think of what his time there was like, while also feeling nostalgia for my own time in college. It’s not been long yet has felt so long since being in school and I really felt that being on a campus.
We stopped by my dad’s old home and snapped a photo (seen below) that I sent in my family group chat... I later learned my mom’s shorts I was wearing had been to the house before. So that’s pretty cool. They got to make another trip down to the home they used to visit.

Aside from being sappy, there was also plenty of time for people watching while at the fest and I left with a notes app entry full of trend inspiration...
Nelsonville was the adventure of July and I can’t wait to ride the wave of inspiration into August! I typically make a mood board and playlist for each month and would love to talk more about them with you here. There’s also plans of digging into trend talks and chatting new music as it comes. So we’ll see where this goes!
Thanks for being here! ‘Til next time <333
